Hand drawn pattern. Every design is worked onto the brass by hand, so no two pieces fall exactly the same way.

Hand pierced openings. Each opening is cut by hand so light passes through the shade and projects the pattern onto the walls and ceiling. The density of the piercing decides whether the room glows softly or fills with sharp geometry.

Engraved detail. Fine line work that catches the light when the lamp is unlit. Up close, the engraving rewards a second look and rewards it again the next time.

Hammered texture. Small hammer marks that give the brass a living surface. Light moves across them even when the lamp is off.

Materials and Finishes

Brass is the foundation of the collection. Brass carries engraved detail deeply, has real weight in the hand, and ages with character instead of wearing out. It can be polished back to brightness or left to darken. We choose the metal for each design because it is part of the design, not only its surface.

Unlacquered brass. The natural metal with no coating. Bright and golden at first, then deepening with air and touch. For people who want the living material.

Aged brass. A softened, mellow tone from the start, quieter and less reflective. It sits comfortably in traditional and rustic rooms.

Antique brass. Darker still, with a timeworn character that suits vintage or old world interiors.

Hammered brass. Texture first. The hammer marks catch the light and give the surface movement.

Patina brass and copper. Green, blue, and bronze tones from natural oxidation, aging into their own color story.

If you are choosing between finishes, start with the mood of the room. Natural brass is the warmest and most traditional. Black and gold and hammered finishes suit rooms with stronger contrast. Patina finishes bring green, blue, and bronze tones that work well with earthy palettes. You can also mix finishes across a room as long as the forms stay related, for example domes in natural brass over the island and a black and gold dome over the entryway.

Dimensions and Sizing Guidance

These are general design rules. Exact dimensions for each piece are on its product page.

Over a kitchen island. The pendant, or the row of pendants, should span roughly two thirds of the island length. Leave breathing room at each end.

Over a dining table. Choose a shade diameter about one half to two thirds of the table width, hung 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop.

In an entryway or open room. Hang the bottom of the pendant at least 7 feet above the floor, so people pass comfortably beneath it.

Stairwells and double height spaces. This is where large and oversized pendants belong. Measure the vertical drop and tell us the measurement when you order, so we can confirm what will work for the space.

Small pendants suit bedside tables, hallways, and reading corners. Large pendants anchor kitchen islands, dining tables, and stairwells.

Installation Guidelines

  • Pendant lights are hardwired ceiling fixtures. We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.
  • Check your ceiling type, concrete, plaster, or wood, and use the right anchors. Have a licensed electrician confirm the ceiling box is rated for the fixture before hanging.
  • For damp locations such as bathrooms, confirm the suitability of the specific piece with us before you order.

Bulb Compatibility

  • Our pendants use standard bulb bases. Check the product page for the right bulb type and the maximum wattage, and respect both.
  • We recommend LED bulbs. They run cool, which matters inside a pierced shade, and they keep energy use low.
  • Choose warm color temperatures, around 2700K to 3000K, for living spaces and bedrooms. Brighter light suits kitchen task areas.
  • The glow changes with the bulb. A warm bulb makes the pierced pattern feel golden; a cooler bulb makes the same shade feel flatter. Test one bulb before buying for a whole row of pendants.

Care

  • Unlacquered brass. Polish with a soft cloth and a gentle brass polish when you want brightness. Leave it alone when you want patina.
  • Sealed finishes. If your finish is sealed, dust with a dry soft cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners, which would damage the finish.
  • Patina finishes. Do not polish. Dust only, so the aged color remains.
  • Clean the canopy and suspension at the same time as the shade, so the whole fixture looks consistent.
  • Always switch the light off and let the bulb cool before cleaning. Remove the bulb before any wet cleaning. Never spray cleaner directly onto the shade; apply it to the cloth.

Are Moroccan pendant lights handmade?

Can brass pendant lights rust?

Brass does not rust the way iron does, because rust is iron oxide and brass contains no iron. What brass does do is oxidize. This is called patina: a natural property of the metal, not damage. Many owners prefer the aged look and never polish their pieces.
